The Woodbury Public Safety Board was established to help the Woodbury Public Safety Department continue to make the City of Woodbury a safe place to live, shop, and raise children. This non-profit organization, incorporated in March 2000, consists entirely of volunteers who live or work in Woodbury. The group's purpose is to promote the welfare of the city by establishing a fund that will be used for promoting crime prevention and public safety. The board works closely with the Woodbury Public Safety Department in this endeavor.
The Woodbury Public Safety Board sponsors educational events throughout the year, including community workshops on identity theft and Internet safety. They also participate in community events such as Minnesota Night to Unite, Safety Camp and Woodbury Days.
In addition, the Board provides financial support for the Public Safety Department by purchasing items that are not obtainable due to budgetary restraints. Since 2000, the Board has raised funds to help obtain police canines, thermal imager cameras for the Fire Department, a firearms training simulator, squad car video recording systems,a portable fire extinguisher trainer, a Sim man training mannequin, Lucas chest compression systems, a cardiac monitor, hydraulic rescue tools and staff exercise equipment.
Donations can be made at any time. If you would like to make a tax-deductible contribution to the Woodbury Crime Prevention and Public Safety Board, please mail it to P.O. Box 25991, Woodbury, MN 55125.
