Woodbury currently has approximately 660 lane miles of roadway that contain 11,100 signs. Many times pavement messages such as crosswalks, turn arrows and stop bars are directly associated with the maintenance of individual signs.
Traffic control signage and pavement message installations are designed to meet the criteria specified in the Minnesota Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. This manual reflects standard practices statewide in regards to sign and pavement message use, placement, materials and location. The manual does not however address typical street name blade criteria. This portion of the sign maintenance program is specified by staff based upon city policies and procedures.
The current city policy dictates that street name blades be nine inches high and that private streets are blue in color and have the word "Private" included. Public street name blades are also nine inches high and green in color. Both types include block numbers.
