Xcel Energy will be replacing the shield wire on an existing 115kV transmission line between Woodbury and Newport. Work is scheduled to begin April 17 and be done by the end of May. Be advised, dates may be adjusted as weather plays a significant role in this project.
The work will involve replacing the top non-energized shield wire(s). The new wire will be pulled in with the existing wire and each pole will need to be accessed with a crane or bucket truck in order to complete the work. A helicopter will be used to pull the new wire from each structure, proper protocols are being followed to make sure this is done safely. Property owners may be contacted in order to coordinate access across their property if needed. Some minor property damage may occur as a result of the work, and Xcel Energy crews will be responsible to complete restoration when the work is done.
Roads will be protected with guard poles and some temporary lane closures may be needed while the work is being performed. Thank you in advance for your cooperation with this transmission line project.
