Curbside Mattress Recycling Event

Free curbside mattress and box spring collection Sept. 11-Oct. 18

Did you know that 95% of mattresses can be recycled? The City of Woodbury is partnering with Ramsey/Washington Recycling and Energy and Second Chance Recycling to offer free curbside pickup of mattresses and box springs this fall. Residents will be able to place mattresses, box springs and crib mattresses out on their curb for recycling at no charge (a $200 value).Mattress Recycling Graphic

Beginning Monday, Sept. 4, 2023, participants may schedule a curbside pickup through the Second Chance Curbside Collection website. Look for the City of Woodbury option. Once the request is scheduled, participants will receive an email with detailed collection instructions.

There is a limit of four items per household (e.g., two mattresses and two box springs). Additional items may be picked up for a fee; coordinate with Second Chance Recycling by calling the phone number below.

The program is open to all residents, including apartment tenants. Apartment tenants should contact their property management prior to scheduling a pickup to learn where to place items for collection.

Items must be placed outside (near the house or garage) by 9 a.m. on the day of scheduled collection and clearly marked for pickup by Second Chance Recycling. Participants should avoid scheduling collection on their regular trash day when feasible. This will avoid confusion and prevent trash haulers from collecting items for a charge. The City is not responsible if your trash hauler collects the items and charges you.

Residents in neighborhoods with roadways under construction, should call Second Chance Recycling at the phone number below to have your items picked up in the temporary location of their trash and recycling containers.

If you are unable to complete your pick-up request online, or if you have additional questions, contact Second Chance recycling at 612-332-0664.
