Advisory Commissions
Applications for 2024 are currently being accepted for the following advisory commissions: Audit and Investment Commission, Economic Development Commission, Planning Commission, and Parks and Natural Resources Commission (only student positions available).

Applying for Advisory Commissions
The City Council is assisted in its decision-making process by five appointed advisory commissions that work on a volunteer basis.

Audit and Investment Commission
The Audit and Investment Commission (AIC) assists the City Council in reviewing the city's financial affairs.

Economic Development Commission
As an advisory commission to the City Council, the Economic Development Commission (EDC) is responsible for developing a strategic plan for economic development for the city, including long-range strategies for economic development.

Parks and Natural Resources Commission
The commission is responsible for advising the City Council and other advisory commissions regarding matters relevant to parks, natural resources, and recreation functions reflecting resident attitudes and concerns.

Planning Commission
The Planning Commission serves as an advisory body to the City Council by making recommendations regarding commercial/industrial site plans, subdivisions, conditional use permits, planning, zoning and sign regulations, and other planning-related items.

South Washington Telecommunications Commission
The South Washington County Telecommunications Commission (SWCTC) is the cable television franchising authority for the Minnesota cities of Cottage Grove, Newport, St. Paul Park, Woodbury, and Grey Cloud Island Township.

Watershed District
Watershed districts are special purpose local units of government with taxing and limited regulatory authority. A district is responsible for managing the water resources within its watershed.

Destination Marketing Organization Task Force
The Destination Marketing Organization Task Force was assembled to research and recommend a governance structure, create a multi-year strategic plan, and develop branding for promoting Woodbury as a place to visit.
