Fire Alarm Permit

Woodbury uses a combination permit. General contractors pay for all permits at the time the building permit is issued. A separate fire alarm permit is issued only when there is no related building permit, or when a fire alarm system is added to a project after the building permit was issued.

A fire alarm permit is required whenever a new fire alarm system is installed, replaced, or modifications are made to an existing system. If you are unsure if your project requires a permit, please call or email Rick Current, the Fire Marshal. Permit fees are paid at the time a permit is issued after plan review and processing.

Fire Alarm Systems shall be designed, installed and maintained in accordance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 72, MN State Fire Code and local city ordinances. Work shall not start until an approved set of plans are returned unless prior approval is given.
