Night to Unite / Block Parties
Minnesota Night to Unite is observed annually on the first Tuesday of August. The event is designed to promote local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police/community partnership, and heighten crime and drug prevention awareness.
Each year we invite and encourage neighbors to observe Minnesota Night to Unite by holding block parties and neighborhood get-togethers and a great addition to your Night to Unite party would be a visit from Woodbury Public Safety. Check back for a link in the spring of 2022 for a link to use to invite public safety vehicles and personnel to your party.
Block Parties & Special Events
Block Parties are a great way for neighbors to get to know each other and to build community anytime. Requests for Public Safety attendance on dates other than Night to Unite should be requested at least two weeks prior to your event and will be evaluated on a case by case basis. Staff will confirm availability five days before your event.
Submit a Block Party/Special Event Request online.
Blocking off Streets
Can we block off our street for our Night to Unite celebration or a Block Party? It's important to remember that some roadways in Woodbury cannot be blocked off in anyway to impede the flow of traffic. To search if your location is one where this is available, access the Block Party Location Search tool:
- Enter the house number closest to the location of your block party in the search field of the tool and select the correct address from the drop-down options that will appear.
- If the map shows the roadway is green, you are allowed to place temporary barriers during your party (see the note that follows).
- If the roadway is red in color, blocking off the roadway is prohibited.
Note: If your street allows for it and you choose to cordon off any portion, barriers must be placed as such to allow for emergency vehicles and residents needing access to the area.
