Memorial Day Ceremony

?Honor service men and women at the annual Memorial Day Ceremony.

General Joseph Votel dressed in formal military attireMayor Anne Burt will present the welcoming remarks. Retired four-star U.S. Army Gen. Joseph Votel, a St. Paul native who oversaw the U.S. war on terrorism in the Middle East, will give the Memorial Day address.

Bagpipe player Lynn Ista will join color guards from the Woodbury High School Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps, the Patriotic Heritage Allegiant Honor Guard, Woodbury Boy Scout Troop 559 and veterans of former South Vietnam in leading the Woodbury American Legion/VFW Rifle Squad to the Veterans Memorial.

Event parking

The Veterans Memorial is located just east of the Woodbury City Hall, 8301 Valley Creek Road. Parking is available at Woodbury City Hall and additional parking is available at the Woodbury Public Safety Building, 2100 Radio Drive, and the Washington County License Center, 2150 Radio Drive. The Public Safety Building and license center parking lots can be accessed off Central Park Place, just south of Valley Creek Road, on the west side of Radio Drive. It is a short walk via paved trail to the Veterans Memorial from these locations. Please note: parking at the Public Safety Building will be restricted to the lot directly in front of the building only. Patrons should not park in the lot behind on the building or on the north end of the building, as these spots are reserved for emergency personnel only.

In case of inclement weather, the Memorial Day observance will be relocated to the indoor amphitheater at Central Park, 8595 Central Park Place.

Recognize service members with paver

You can recognize a service member by purchasing a Veterans Memorial engraved paver from the Veterans Memorial Council. Paver orders placed by May 15 will be installed and engraved in time for the Memorial Day Ceremony May 29. Order forms are available in the City Hall lobby, at Central Park or may be requested online
