Home Energy Squad helps save year round

A technician performs a heat test using a mobile device during a home energy squad visit

As Minnesotans prepare for dropping temperatures, the City of Woodbury reminds residents that the Home Energy Squad is available to help homeowners explore how homes use energy and identify energy-saving opportunities.

To help homeowners increase energy savings and comfort throughout the year, Xcel Energy and CenterPoint Energy offer Home Energy Squad. During a two-hour visit, a crew of two energy experts will visit your home to conduct an assessment to reveal opportunities for energy savings and the installation of energy saving products such as LED bulbs, door weather-stripping, water savers and a programmable thermostat, at no extra cost. There is also the option of a no-cost virtual consultation.

Discounted Energy Planner Visits available for residents

As an incentive, the City of Woodbury will buy down the cost of the program's Energy Planner Visits. These visits include the installed items listed above plus a comprehensive energy audit with a blower-door test to measure for air leaks, insulation inspection, safety check on heating system and water heater and recommendations for next steps. Normally $100, Woodbury residents only pay $70 for this visit.

Free in-person visits are also available to income-qualified households.

To schedule an appointment with the Home Energy Squad, call 651-328-6220 or visit the HES website.
