1. Do I need to bring my own equipment?

All equipment for baseball is supplied including baseballs, plastic bats and gloves. If the participant has their own glove or plastic bat, they are more than welcome to bring it. Metal bats are not allowed. The only equipment you would need to bring is anything your child uses on a daily basis (communication device, walker/wheelchair, etc.). 

2. Will there be people to help my child?

Mostly, yes! At every EMML baseball game, there will be a group of volunteers. The volunteers will buddy up with participants that would like/need a buddy to help run, bat and field. On some occasions, our volunteer groups do not have enough people to help everyone, so parent participation is required. 

3. Does my child need to know how to play baseball?

No, coaches and volunteers are instructed to help guide each participant with learning the game of baseball while participating. 

4. Who can register?

Youth and young adults with cognitive and/or physical disabilities. 

5. How are games played?

Games are two innings or 60 minutes long. An inning consists of each team batting through the entire lineup. Each batter gets one base per hit except the last batter who hits a homerun. Plastic, foam or rubber bats are used to hit the soft core tee balls that are used. There are no strikes, balls or outs. All players go out in the field to play defense. Coaches pitch to their own team, but a hitting tee will be onsite for anyone that would like to use it. All games end in a tie.

7. How will I know if a game gets cancelled due to weather?

The Miracle League coordinator will send out an email to all participants that the game is cancelled. They will also update the weather Line at 651-714-3569.
