In 2009, the City Council passed a resolution to use the B3-State of Minnesota Sustainable Building Guidelines in the planning, design, construction and commission of new buildings and major renovations greater than 5,000 square feet that are owned by the City of Woodbury. In 2015, the city's efforts won the Best of B3 local government category.
Sustainable Best Practices and Policies
The City of Woodbury accepted the voluntary challenge to become more sustainable by focusing on implementation of best practices identified by the Minnesota GreenStep Cities program. The city's progress in implementing these best practices are documented on-line. In 2013, the City of Woodbury was recognized as a Step 3 City, by completing 22 of the 28 best practices.
