The city enforces the State Wetland Conservation Act, which prohibits most draining, excavating, and/or filling of wetlands. Wetland impacts that cannot reasonably be avoided must be replaced.
The administrative duties of issuing permits for wetland replacement plans are shared between the City of Woodbury and two watershed districts. Contact the (651) 714-3500 to discuss any project that could potentially impact wetlands.
The city also has requirements for buffers around wetlands to protect water quality in the wetland and provide habitat for wildlife. Buffers should be left in natural vegetation and not mowed.
