Minnesota Night to Unite is observed annually on the first Tuesday of August. The event is designed to promote local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police/community partnership, and heighten crime and drug prevention awareness.
We invite and encourage neighborhoods to observe Minnesota Night to Unite by holding block parties this year on August 7. The deadline for making your request is July 20, 2018.
Invite Public Safety to Your Night to Unite Party
Reminders for neighborhood block parties:
- You do not need to register your Night to Unite block party. You only need to fill out a request form (above) or contact Public Safety. Due to the number of events, we are not able to establish a specific time for our visit.
- If you are blocking off any roadways for your block party, please do so with temporary, easy to remove items such as saw horses or caution tape. The area must still allow access to emergency vehicles and residents that are not participating.
We will again collect school supplies for local schools. A complete list will be posted here by July 16. Supplies may be dropped off at Public Safety or given to staff visiting your block party on Night to Unite.
Contact Michelle Okada at firstname.lastname@example.org or call (651) 714-3600 with questions regarding block parties or Minnesota Night to Unite.
Night to Unite is sponsored by the Minnesota Crime Prevention Association, AAA of Minnesota/Iowa, and local law enforcement agencies.
Requests for Public Safety attendance on dates other than Night to Unite should be requested at least two weeks prior to your event and will be evaluated on a case by case basis. Staff will confirm availability five days before your event.
