Volunteer Opportunities

There are a number of volunteer opportunities available at the Woodbury Public Safety Department that have proven to be both rewarding to the individual as well as beneficial to the department.

Chaplaincy Corps
The Chaplaincy Corps supports the efforts of Public Safety agencies by offering spiritual guidance and pastoral-counseling assistance to persons confronted with crisis experiences.

Multicultural Advisory Committee
The Woodbury Multicultural Advisory Committee (MAC) is an engaged group of volunteers that advise the Woodbury Police Department in order to enrich the relationship between underrepresented community members and the department. By creating opportunities to learn from each other and building trust and communication between the police and community members, we will ultimately improve the safety and livability of our community.

Police and Fire Explorers
Woodbury Public Safety sponsors Police and Fire Explorer Posts. Exploring is a vocation-based program of Learning for Life, a subsidiary of the Boy Scouts of America, for youth ages 14 through 20. For young men and women who are interested in careers in the field of law enforcement or the fire service, Exploring offers experiential learning with hands-on activities that promote the growth and development of youth.

Police Reserves
Woodbury Police Reserves are a group of volunteers who work directly with sworn police officers to supplement the Woodbury Public Safety team.   This volunteer program puts community members on the street, in uniform, for a minimum of 10 hours each month.

Volunteer Emergency Response Team (VERT)
When natural disasters hit, professional first responders are often overwhelmed with calls for help. To better prepare for these circumstances, the Woodbury Public Safety Department formed the Volunteer Emergency Response Team (VERT), a group of citizens trained to aid professional responders in emergency situations.
