I-494 and Valley Creek Road Water Main Rehabilitation Project
Construction is anticipated to begin the week of April 6 on the lining of approximately 1,100 feet of 12-inch water main that runs down eastbound Valley Creek Road and under Interstate-494. Eastbound traffic on Valley Creek Road will see traffic impacts, but access will be maintained throughout the project. Construction is expected to be completed in June 2020.
This project was approved based on a water main assessment to determine potential failure points of the City’s water main infrastructure under major interstates. Due to the age, pipe material, and location, recommendations were made to improve this section of water main to prevent any potential failures that could cause disruption to I-494 and loss of water service.

Temporary Water Treatment Facility
With the loss of seven water production wells due to PFAS contamination, it is critical the City implement temporary water treatment as soon as possible to allow the City to meet peak water demands during the summer of 2020 and beyond until a long-term solution is determined and implemented. Without temporary water treatment, the City will not be able to reliably meet peak water demands.
